EMERGING TRENDS IN SEPARATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY - SESTEC 2016

17-20 May 2016, Indian Institute Of Technology, Guwahati

The seventh biennial symposium on “Emerging Trends in Separation Science and Technology” (ASSET-2016) is being organized by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy in association with the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IITG), Guwahati and the Association of Separation Scientists and Technologists (ASSET) during May 17-20, 2016 at IITG, Guwahati, Assam, India.

The objective of SESTEC-2016 is to provide a forum to scientists and engineers to discuss the recent advances in the area of separation science and technology relevant to the nuclear fuel cycle activities such as separation of actinides, lanthanides and fission products and speciation of actinides. The expected participation of scientists and engineers from National Laboratories, Universities and Research Institutes from India and abroad in the symposium facilitates effective interaction among the experts and young researchers engaged in research in the areas of separation science and technology.

Presentations will encompass basic studies and applications and will address topics of novel issues. The scientific programme of the symposium will include Invited talks by eminent Indian and Overseas scientists.Contributed papers will be presented in Oral and Poster sessions and the best oral & poster presentations will be selected for the awards. There will be a special session on “Simulation Studies on Separation Processes” which includes different types of computational and modelling studies for separations.
Abstract of the contributed papers will peer reviewed prior to inclusion in the symposium proceedings. Limited number of papers will be selected for consideration for journal publication in reputed journals such as “Separation Science and Technology” (papers dealing with general separation), “Radiochimica Acta” (papers dealing with radioactivity) and “Chemical Product and Process Modelling” (papers dealing with theoretical and computational studies). The authors will be intimated in advance about the selection of their contributions for consideration of journal publication.
The next day after the conclusion of the symposium (21st May, 2016) has been made available for sightseeing program. Details of the program will be announced at the time of symposium. Those who are interested for guided tours can contact the local organizers well in advance. A conference banquet will be arranged on the 3rd day (19th May, 2016) of the symposium. (Click here to download SESTEC-2016 brochure) (Click here to download one page SESTEC-2016 brochure)
