About the Department
The department was established during the inception of the institute in 1995 as the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems.
In 2008, the department had started a new B. Tech. programme in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. This programme aims at producing engineers with sound knowledge of electrical engineering and a strong background in electronics.
In 2010, the department has started two new M. Tech. programmes with specializations in Communication Engineering and Power & Control.
In 2011, the Department of ECE was renamed to the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE).
In 2015, the department has started one new M.Tech. programme with a specialization in RF & Photonics. A new Dual [MS(Engg.)+PhD] degree programme has started in the same year to expand the scope of the research focus of the department into interdisciplinary areas and to enable bright graduates from other areas to study and carry out research in different interdisciplinary areas of electronics and electrical engineering.
The major areas of faculty expertise of the department include Biomedical Signal Processing, Communication Systems, Computer Networks, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing & Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Instrumentation, Multimedia Security, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Radar Signal Processing, RF and Microwaves, Microstrip Antennas, Optoelectronic and Optical Communication, Speech Signal Processing, VLSI Systems and MEMS.
The department offers the following degrees:
