The Signal Processing and Machine Learning (SPML) group in the EEE Department of IIT Guwahati is one of the oldest research groups of the institute. We excel in different domains of signal and image processing.
Research activities span statistical signal processing, machine learning, computer vision, image and video processing, speech and audio processing, optimization, and data-driven artificial intelligence. The group emphasizes the development of mathematically rigorous methods alongside scalable computational frameworks to address challenges in perception, decision-making, and autonomous systems.
A major strength of the domain lies in its interdisciplinary approach, where advances in signal processing and artificial intelligence are translated into impactful applications in healthcare, biomedical imaging, intelligent sensing, embedded AI, remote sensing, and next-generation communication systems.
